WaySpa: Can you give us some background on Liangtse Spa? Where and when did you first open?

In 1997, Liangtse Group founded the first natural therapy research institute and the first massage healthcare service company in China.

Throughout 27 years of development, our company has established over 500 chain stores around the globe, with more than 25,000 employees. With an unwavering commitment to service quality and constant innovation, China Liangtse Group has become one of the leading brands in the health service industry.

The very first Canadian location was opened in May 2018 in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Over the years, we have served thousands of customers and obtained great reviews from them.

We offer regular massage and RMT massage. We also offer unique massage oil and massage cream on-site and as merchandising products. Our masseurs are trained monthly so they can provide professional and high-quality services to our customers.

WaySpa: What are some of your most popular treatments?

Our most popular treatments include 1-hour massage and 1.5-hour massage, hot stone massage, and cupping.

Customers enjoy the benefit of an hour-long massage, including reducing stress and increasing relaxation, reducing pain and muscle soreness and tension, improving circulation, energy and alertness, lowering heart rate and blood pressure and improving immune function.

The benefit of hot stone massage can be significant: it can help relieve muscle tension and pain. Heat has long been used to ease muscle tension and pain actually; reduce stress and anxiety; promote sleep; help relieve symptoms of autoimmune diseases; help decrease cancer symptoms and boost immunity.

Cupping used to be only popular in the ethnic markets; however, it has taken off in recent years in the mainstream market as it offers the great benefit of releasing scar tissue and fascial adhesions, reducing painful trigger points, improving circulation, blood and lymph circulation, relieving pain, promoting mobility and range of motion, improves mature scars and decreasing toxins.

WaySpa: What is Aijiu care?

Aijiu, also known as Moxibustion, is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned on or very near the skin’s surface. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.

Moxa is usually made from the dried leafy material of Chinese mugwort (Artemesia argyi or A.vlugaris), but it can be made of other substances as well.

Moxibustion is used for:

  • Pain due to injury or arthritis, especially in “cold” patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat
  • Digestive problems and irregular elimination
  • Gynecological and obstetrical conditions, including breech presentation in late-term pregnancy
  • Protection against cold and flu strains

Liangtse developed patented equipment that we use for moxibustion, which leverages infrared technology and further enhances the benefit of this treatment.

WaySpa: Do you find a lot of your customers tend to be solo?
