We Canadians are no strangers to cold weather, deep snow, and brisk winter winds, and, might we politely boast, we know how to dress for it.
This season, we’re seeing lots of oversized outerwear, pleated skirts, and (surprisingly?) more balaclavas than ever before. And layering is KEY.
Here are 10 winter outfits we’re excited to wear this season!
Knit Balaclavas
Great for winter hiking, skiing, and just wearing about town, we love these woollen, crochet and knit versions of the traditional balaclava.
Flannel & Beanie Combo
Okay, this is not new, but we still love this look for winter outfits carrying over from fall. Coffee in hand is a REQUIREMENT.
Oversized Outerwear
When layers are needed, long and loose rule, like this cute oversized cozy coat. Pair with your favourite jeans and a chunky pair of boots to complete the look.
Pleated Skirts
A classic closet staple with a fun winter twist. Cinch with a belt, and pair the outfit with ankle or knee-high boots to add length.
Lace Up Boots
The perfect balance of protection and style with waterproof uppers and fleece liners to keep toasty. Make sure you choose a pair with good traction for slippery days, like these Tofino Sorels.
Western Looks
Cowboys and girls are having a moment this year, and winter will be no different. From boldly patterned sweaters to wide belts and boots, the West has won our hearts.
Baseball Hats
Um, perhaps not necessarily for wearing when the temperature hits -25 degrees C, but baseball caps can be dressed up and down, and make a fun look paired with a thick coat.
Grey, Grey and More Grey
Long grey coats layered with grey sweaters or tunics and pants or leggings are far from dreary this season. This is our easy, go-to outfit this winter for feeling super comfy – and opting out of black.
