I wanted to try a new place because I was bored with all the spas I've been to in Calgary. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful in making my decision for my services. She also told me about the new promotions they were having while I was on the phone so I didn't have to check the website. I went in for a European facial and a pedicure but while I was there I was having such a great time and felt so relaxed that I asked if they could fit in a massage as well. The girl called in a massage therapist and she came in just for me! That's great service! I left feeling great and even bought a gift certificate for my sister to go. She'll love it!

I have a mixed review. I had taken my daughter and myself to Spa Europa & we had very different results. My daughter had a manicure & pedicure like I did, at the end my Daughters nails were perfect and remained that way for a week. I however had both my finger and toe nails ruined before I left the spa. My daughter had something used on her nails, the spray I belive although not sure - used on her nails to dry them. What ever it was it worked. She was done before I was and I started first. After having a manicure, and hands exfoliated and lotioned I had my hands put under the ultra violet dryer thing. This caused extreme dryness in my hands and they were uncomfortable - needless to say having them under there for an extended period of time to try to dry the old thick nail polish which was used caused this extreme dryness. The woman who had had given me my manicure and pedicure had to suddonly leave, so there I was hitting the "dry" button on the dryer myself in hopes my nails would hurry up and dry. I was approached by the woman who had done my Daughters nails and she touched my nails and said they seemed dry... so I had enough sitting there with my hands feeling as they did... we left. I went to pay for some tea I bought there and as I went to put my hands in my purse I had noticed 3 of my nails were already ruined. Worried I would ruin my toe nails putting my shoes on I touched them and they seemed dry to the touch so I did. I felt the nail polish smoosh when I put my shoes on. I pulled out my foot and my toe nails were totally ruined as well. The old nail polish used was so thick it never would have dried. when I got home my finger nails and toe nails were so aweful I was totally discusted I had just paid $150.00 for this, and on top of it my hands were SO DRY. I went to get the nail polish remover but I didnt even need it... the nail polish peeled right off. It was like a strip of plastic. Thats how old and thick the nail polish was. My Daughters nails as I said were absolutly perfect and stayed that way for about a week.

I waited for the esthetician for 30 mins, even though there was no one else in the spa. The facilities, equipment, tools, and general cleaniness looked like a place where you'd pay $40 for a mani-pedi, not where you'd pay $125. The carpets looked like they hadn't been vacumed for weeks, the pedicure chairs were ripped and torn, and the room lit harshly by florecent lights, making me feel like I was in the office. The general pedicure was well done, but the french tips of my manicure were extremely crooked, bumpy and messy looking. I had to get them re-done at another place the next day.

Very relaxing treatments and friendly staff. Nice little extra touches like a cup of tea and snack after my treatment. Overall, very enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

They were running behind, asked me to come back in 30 minutes, the relaxing room was very messy and had no water, then they did accomodate by switching the facial before the massage. They took me into a room and handed me a rough old wrap for my facial. I was expected to change it that room, not a changing room and set my shirt on a chair. My facial was very nice but had boooked a 90 minute and only got 60 minutes with no explanation. I was then handed a very short robe (as they had no more long ones) and asked to change in the same room and walk across the lobby to my massage. At the end all the people that had worked on me had left and the poor receptionist had to try and explain things. When I asked why I only got a 60 minute instead of 90 she said they rushed me as someone had to go home. She said someone would call me the next day to discuss as no one was left there and no has called yet. I am very disappointed and will not ever recommend this spa to anyone. Very poor experience!!

This spa has no business promoting itself as “Calgary's most upscale luxury spa”. There was nothing about our experience that was luxury or upscale. The waiting lounge did not have sufficient seating for all its guests. Water was never offered to us – I had to ask multiple times for water and was never offered refills. A pitcher of water and glasses in the waiting lounge would have gone a long way to rectifying this problem. I found this particularly ironic when my massage therapist advised me to drink lots of fluids following the massage to flush the toxins out. I had to ask repeatedly for tissues – there were none in the bathroom, the waiting lounge or any of the treatment rooms that I saw. At one point I asked one of the technicians for a tissue – she looked at me blankly, left the room and the owner (at least I assume it was the owner or at least the manager) returned with a box that she literally threw at me. The change room/steam room was co-ed! We were not advised in advance of this fact and my girlfriend actually walked in on a man while he was changing! We did not have full access to the steam room as a result – if there was a man in the room we were not able to go in. The promotion of the steam room on the web site should be changed to reflect the fact that it is co-ed and not available at all times. My girlfriend’s exfoliant for her seaweed wrap was applied to dry skin. As the steam room was occupied she was not able to have a steam nor shower in advance. Consequently the exfoliant was applied to dry skin – much to her discomfort. The woman who applied her seaweed wrap did not know what she was doing – this was evidenced by the fact that she checked notes from her pocket a number of times throughout the procedure to ensure she was following the correct steps. Further, when it came time to wrap the plastic, she did not wrap but rather “placed” it on my girlfriend, thus not providing the full impact of the wrap. The rooms for my massage and her wrap were separated by a partial door – this meant I heard everything that was going on in her room and she heard everything in mine. It was not very relaxing to listen to conversation and running shower water during my massage treatment. Further, my massage therapist (a male) entered her treatment room without warning to get something. This caused my girlfriend severe discomfort as she was naked on the table at the time. When I booked our treatments on-line months ago I was very specific that I wanted our massage and wrap treatments prior to our pedicures. I even called the week prior to ensure our needs were met and was assured that the treatments had been scheduled as requested. However, when we arrived at the spa the owner was not aware of the request and, in fact, had scheduled the pedicures first. When we voiced our concerns and asked for a change, the best that could be accommodated was to do the pedicures first and apply the polish following the massage and wrap treatments. This would have been an acceptable compromise to the scheduling blunder except for the fact that when it came time to apply the polish all the technicians were rushed, weren’t really sure what was supposed to be happening and, following the application, we were rushed out the door as they needed the room for another party. Rushed out the door with flip-flops on our feet on a cold winter day in Calgary! Staying longer in the lounge was not offered as an option – we were shown the door with disposable flip-flops on our feet. The front desk was a disorganized mess with piles of papers scattered everywhere, the spa shoes were scattered all over the front entrance area, we had to step over the shoes to reach the closet – not a welcoming entry (nor good first impression) to what is supposed to be a calm and relaxing experience. Overall the experience was not pleasant – both the service we received and the overall environment of the spa. We were expecting top notch treatment – based on the promotion of the spa on Wayspa, the spa website and the fact that we were paying top rates for our services. We were extremely disappointed in Spa Europa. Further, our opinion of Wayspa is tarnished as a result of association with such a substandard facility.

My boyfriend purchased a GC for myself, to enjoy a massage, manicure and facial. I had purchased him a massage and we booked in together. That morning we both woke up extremely ill, and we called in reschedule. We were told that we would be charged half of what we paid, which in our case was about 200$ to reschedule. So we came in, even though we were ill. The change room was a big mess, there were used cups with lipstick on them and dirty robes on the floor. The massage however was very enjoyable and relaxing. The facial for myself was also enjoyable. The manicure was a bit disappionting. The cost for this manicure was already double what I normally pay for a french manicure.. but I was then advised my 300$ spa day didnt actually include a FRENCH manicure, so that would cost extra. I was okay paying the extra. The girl made two of my fingers bleed, she mentioned she was off soon so I assume she was rushing? Anyways she cut my cuticles WAY too short and this is still painful, 3 days later. When the manicure was done it was very uneven. I was left under the dryer and she went home. I couldnt tell if they were finished or not so I sat a bit longer, then went to find the change room, the spa was pretty much empty at this point. My nails look awful as they were not dry and ended up being not only uneven but now smudged. So, the manicure was not the best experience. Perhaps on a different day things would have gone more smoothly.

My girlfriend and I booked for the Nails, Nails Nails package. When we arrived, about 10 minutes early, they suggested we go for a coffe or something as they were running late. Once we returned we were led into a utilitarian room and seated in side-by-side leather chairs. Between the chairs was a utility try cart with stuff sticking out from the bottom two shelves, including lots of 6-month old magazines that ended up all over the floor when you pulled out one. This might have been avoided had one of the attendants offered us magazines to start with or for that matter, tea or water or anything. Having said all that, my heels in particular have never been softer. Both girls were very skilled at their work and my friend and I were very happy with the end result but I wouldn't recommend this spa to anyone looking for a true 'spa experience'.

I was not made to feel important eventhough it was my birthday. Did not get the whole experiance I was paying for. Not once was I offered anything to eat/drink although I witnessed other guests served refreshments. I only got a 60 minute facial when I paid for 90. Was not offered the use of steam room/showers. Manicure was rushed because the spa was closing, They made me put my coat on before the polish! I did enjoy my massage but would not return to this spa again.

My voucher instructed me to call a toll free number to book my appointment. The number on my voucher had letters and numbers before the required number so I was told that they were unable to find my file. I tried calling several times hoping that someone could do something for me. Very frustrating. Finally, I was directed to the manager, Abey, who was able to find my file right away and told me that I only needed the last five digits. Would recommend that staff answering the phones be aware of this. After my treatment at Spa Europa, the receptionist did not have any record that my treatment had been a WaySpa gift so she was seeking payment. She did this in a very professional way. When I gave her my voucher numbers, she was appreciative and apologetic and said she would look after it. Definate impovement needed in this area.

My boyfriend and I went for pedicures before our Cuba trip. Seeing as he was not getting a polish, you'd think that they'd possibly massage his feet longer or something to make up for it. They didn't. I requested a french manicure but wasn't told until afterwards that it was $10 extra on top of the $70 each we paid. It was my first pedicure and I wouldn't go back to Spa Europa for another one. Not worth the money.

Treatments were excellent (facial and massage). Overall facilities were not as clean as I felt they could be, and "waiting area" should have water/beverages available as self serve - you had to request water from staff. Water was served with frozen, reusable plastic ice cubes - which I think are unsightly and unsanitary.
